Nikki Bailey
Nikki started sewing as a hobby but then took it up more seriously as her children got older. She started with a City & Guilds in Fashion, followed this up with a degree in Costume Interpretation and currently works as a freelance theatrical costume maker. This means she can make anything, and she has photos of a fantastic beetle costume to prove it.
She has been teaching sewing on the costume design course at Croydon college for the past year.
Nikki admits to having a thing about making bags…
Hala Ennaciri
Hala comes originally from Morocco, where she ran a sewing & fashion design school for 7 years, as well as a traditional Moroccan dress society. Since coming to the UK, she has been working as a dressmaker for a dancewear company.
For some reason, she forgot to mention on her CV that she has been working on the dresses for Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice!
Fiona Douglas
Fiona is the owner and founder of Oh Sew Brixton. She was taught to sew by her mother at the age of 12 and continued sewing for relaxation all through a long career in marketing research. Latterly, she worked as a freelance consultant, and so was able to do some creative stuff too, owning clothing shops in Brixton & Camden and sourcing the shops' clothing range in India. In 2009 she decided that the sewing renaissance meant the time was right to start Oh Sew Brixton. She loves it and hopes never to have to go back to a corporate life!
We occasionally use freelance tutors, so if you have experience of teaching sewing classes, please send a CV and a covering note to mail@ohsewbrixton.co.uk .
Please say which courses you would like to teach (yes, we are very much open to suggestions!) and your availability to teach them.
